For over two decades, Cinemaissí has provided a dedicated platform for Latin American cinema in Finland, presenting arthouse films and works that engage critically with social, political, and cultural questions. Founded in 2005, it is the oldest Latin American film festival in the Nordic region.

Independent and grassroots in character, Cinemaissí has been shaped by the sustained involvement of filmmakers, artists, volunteers, audiences, and cultural institutions. Across its history, the festival has sought to broaden the visibility of Latin American cinema in Finland while creating space for distinctive cinematic voices, formal experimentation, and perspectives that challenge conventional representations of the region.
