In the interest of public health and safety, we are happy to announce that this event is POSTPONED until further notice.

This is one way to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Other ways and important information can be found on this website: https://thl.fi/en/web/thlfi-en

In times like these, people may feel lonely, anxious and scared. So remember to reach out to your friends, loved ones and network, through messaging, calls and video. This is a time for calm, for health and for love.

Yours warmly, Katie and Gabriel, organisers of MIF x Cinemaissí Cinema Club

P.S. When the time is right, the cinema club will look forward to welcoming you to screenings of wonderful Latin American film!

Cinemaissí is happy to announce a collaboration with Museum of Impossible forms (M{if}) in the creation of an open, free ‘Cinema Club’. Starting from 18th March until 29th May, screenings every other Wednesday will give the opportunity to see Latin American films before the Cinemaissí festival in autumn and moreover, provide a space of encounters and interaction around film.

Ranging from award-winning documentaries, to low-budget feature films, and covering a variety of themes focused on social issues, we welcome all film-lovers to open their eyes to different perspectives, to the varied realities of Latin America and to discover the universal struggles of the people at the heart of the films.

Having the occasion to discuss films and their topics is priceless, so our Cinema Club will offer space and time after the screenings to discuss, criticise, open and explore the films. During these encounters, all opinions will be valued, stimulating conversations will be encouraged and new connections will form, in the relaxed and ‘living room’ setting of M{if}.

Cinemaissí is grateful for the numerous, active members that make up the Cinemaissí community. For this project, we are delighted by the enthusiasm and work of Gabriel Olavarria, who has been working with Events Coordinator Katie Bell to produce this series.

The Museum of Impossible Forms, an antiracist and queer-feminist project, a heterogeneous space, is the perfect partner for this project. Thanks to M{if} for their passion and positivity in working with us. We see this as the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship in broadening the diversity of art and culture on offer across the whole of Helsinki.

Welcome to join us, no signing up needed, as we kick off the series with the Chilean documentary ‘Chicago Boys’ on Wednesday 18th March; it will be sure to spark conversations about the current instability in Chile.
